Club Competitions

The Championship is Red Rose’s premier race competition. It pits clubs members against each other in 8 road races which are held throughout the year. All club members over the age of 16 are eligible to compete.

Races are held on existing open races that are organised by outside authorities. These races are not free to enter and you are expected to pay your own entry fees.

Club kit must be worn (you are reminded that all members are required to wear a club vest, short or long sleeve top in all competitions). Any member not wearing club kit will be counted as last placed.

The Grand Prix is Red Rose’s handicap competition. It allows members of all ages and abilities to compete on a broadly equal footing. The rules are designed to reward performance improvement and participation. All club members over the age of 16 are eligible to compete in the Grand Prix.

It consists of 8 events, of varied disciplines. These races are organised by outside authorities and may not be free to enter. You are expected to pay your own entry fee when required.

In addition to the Championship which takes part on road races, the club also holds a similar competition for off-road races. All club members over the age of 18 are eligible to compete in the Off-Road Championship.

The competition consists of 8 off-road races held throughout the year, and may include races selected for the Inter Club Fell Championship. These races are held by outside authorities. These races are not free and you are expected to pay your own entry fee.

Club kit must be worn (you are reminded that all members are required to wear a club vest, short or long sleeve top in all competitions). Any member not wearing club kit will be counted as last placed. You may also be required to carry additional kit and protective clothing during any fell races. Organisers may disqualify runners with inadequate kit.

You are responsible for your own safety on the fells and must obey any additional rules and procedures drawn up by the race organisers.

The Junior Championship is Red Rose’s competition for members under 16. All first claim club members under the age of 16 are eligible to compete.

The competition involves existing open races that are organised by outside authorities. These races may not be free to enter and you are expected to pay your own entry fees. Competitors must conform with the entry requirements of each race.

All members competing in a Junior Championship event must wear either an official Red Rose Road Runners running top, or a baseball cap bearing the Red Rose logo or a garment bearing an official Red Rose sew on badge affixed to the front of the garment.

Any member not wearing club kit will be counted as last placed.
